KARAKALPAKS IN RUSSIAN MILITARY-HISTORICAL LITERATURE OF THE THIRD QUARTER OF THE 19TH CENTURY

This article examines information about the Karakalpaks reflected in the works of the participants of the Khiva campaign in the 19th century. It highlights the scientific research conducted by A.N. Glukhovsky, A.V. Kaulbars, M.N. Bogdanov, I.I. Krauze, and A.L. Kun. Special attention is given to the settlement territory of the Karakalpaks, their economic activities, lifestyle, ethnographic characteristics, and historical events. The article also analyzes materials related to cattle breeding, fishing, agriculture, housing construction, and the socio-economic life of the population of the Khiva Khanate. The importance of manuscripts and archival documents collected by A.L. Kun as valuable sources on the history and ethnography of the Karakalpak people is emphasized. The study concludes that the literature of the 19th century serves as an important source for understanding the culture, lifestyle, and history of the Karakalpak people.
