This article examines the institutional, economic, and cultural significance of international art residencies within the global art market ecosystem. The research analyzes the conceptual foundations, historical evolution, and developmental stages of art residency programs from early patronage systems to contemporary digital and transnational residency models. Particular attention is devoted to the role of art residencies in shaping professional trajectories for artists and curators, strengthening cultural diplomacy, supporting creative industries, and generating symbolic and economic capital. The study applies analytical, comparative, historical, and sociological approaches to evaluate the transformation of art residencies into multifunctional institutions operating simultaneously as production spaces, educational environments, networking platforms, and market intermediaries. Research findings demonstrate that modern art residencies significantly influence artistic legitimacy, professional mobility, innovation processes, and the globalization of creative economies. The article further explores the impact of digital transformation, postcolonial discourse, and virtual residency models on the future development of international artistic collaboration systems.
