Abstract

The article analyzes the tasks of the test motif in Karakalpak, Turkmen and English folk tales to develop the plot, reveal the character of the hero and express the moral idea of the work from a comparative and poetic perspective. It was found that the test manifests itself in the form of a mental task, social injustice, moral choice and magical obstacle. The comparative analysis showed that the test motif reveals the inner possibilities of the hero in all three folklore traditions, but its form, means and artistic result differ due to the influence of national life and moral values.
