This article examines the impact of climate change on urban planning and identifies the major spatial, environmental, social, and infrastructural challenges arising from changing climatic conditions. Particular attention is paid to the effects of increasing average temperatures, changing precipitation patterns, urban heat islands, flooding risks, water scarcity, and the increasing frequency of extreme weather events on the development and functioning of cities. The study analyzes the need to adapt urban planning principles to contemporary climate risks and substantiates the importance of integrating climate resilience, environmental sustainability, and risk reduction into urban development strategies. The article emphasizes the role of climate-sensitive spatial planning, expansion of green infrastructure, development of energy-efficient buildings, improvement of stormwater management systems, and sustainable transport solutions in reducing the vulnerability of urban areas. Based on a systematic analysis of contemporary approaches to climate-resilient urban development, the study concludes that adaptation-oriented planning can contribute to improving the environmental quality, social resilience, and long-term sustainability of cities.
