This article provides a detailed review of the hygienic significance of indoor micromycete (mold) contamination in residential buildings, its structural and microclimatic determinants, and its relationship to allergic health risk, based on an analysis of international and regional literature. Mechanisms of fungal proliferation, allergenic and toxigenic species, epidemiological associations, and approaches to hygienic risk assessment and prognosis are discussed in detail within the context of the Fergana region.
