Abstract

Under conditions of global competition in the garment industry, the use of original design solutions based on new methods of artistic modelling contributes to the development of the clothing sector by expanding the range of manufactured garments and creating products with unique aesthetic properties. The article examines the main aspects of applying the modular design method in the artistic modelling of garment constructions consisting of repeated unified cutting elements. A generalized method of artistic modelling of garment constructions based on repeated unified modular elements is proposed. According to the proposed method, the shape and dimensions of modular elements are determined taking into account four main components: the external form of the garment, the physical and mechanical properties of materials, the manufacturing technology, and the designed visual illusions. The application of this approach makes it possible to create original spatial forms of clothing, expand the range of products, and use various textile and non-textile materials and innovative processing technologies.
