ANALYSIS OF SOIL COMPACTION AT SITES OF SMALL-SCALE WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANTS

Developing an optimal wastewater treatment method based on local materials is crucial for ensuring sanitary safety in agricultural areas and small settlements. In regions lacking extensive centralized sewer networks, wastewater is often discharged via septic systems and subsequently treated naturally through soil absorption fields (infiltration or filtration fields). While these systems are cost-effective, simple to operate, and energy-efficient, their reliability depends heavily on the soil's filtration capacity and the hydraulic conditions within the infiltration zone. Consequently, clogging of the septic system—specifically the infiltration surface—represents one of the most common yet least understood operational challenges facing rural residents and small businesses.
